I got my CoD5 BETA Key in my e-mail, and I was arguing with myself whether to use it, or sell it. The keys were selling for upto £10 on eBay, but a friend persuaded me to use it. I entered it into the Xbox, and downloaded the game, which was about 950MB and took about 15 minutes.
I launched the game from my dashboard, and I was impressed at first sight. The pre game lobby looks great, and they are still improving it. I launched into a game, the map was Castle. There is so much detail in the game, more weapons, better grenades, and the explosing… Well WOW! (Hey, you can’t blame me for liking explosions!).
Although it took me a while to get used to it, as I am a big Call of Duty fan, and I was used to playing with new, modern weapons from the earlier version, Modern Warfare. The first sniper available, is no longer a big chunky piece of metal, but it is the old Springfield rifle, used in World War 2 by the common sniper. The bolt action of the weapons is much greater, and more skill is needed, rather than just running around and spraying eachother.
I quickly collected up a few skills, set out my recon plane, pulled upto 5, and instead of sending an airstrike, I was amazed to see artillery bombs dropping from the sky. This took me upto a 9 kill streak, so powerfull, but yet so inaccurate, sometimes covering a position that is no where near the chosen bombing area.
At 7 kills I was awarded “The Dogs”. I was able to set out a group of viscous dogs after the opposition. I saw them, jumping up, and biting the enemy. This was the substitute for the helicopter, and they would never stop attacking, unluke the helicopter, unless killed ofcourse. Unfortunately there are no other rewards for gaining higher kill streaks, as I hit my 14 kill streak, and was sniped from a tower in the far east of the map. I was truly amazed with the amount of detail put into the game.
There is also more to come, as this is only the BETA version, meaning that they want our feedback, to make the game better, and sure hell, it can’t get much better than it already is! Many people thought that the game would be rubbish, as it was made by a different company, although the new company have held the standards of Call of Duty.
The game will definetly be worth getting, and I will be one of the first to buy this game. Who knows, maybe it will defeat Halo 3, and maybe sell more than the upcoming release of the new Halo. Will it sell more copies than the previous versions of Call of Duty? We will see, on the release date, approximately November the 11th.
